I need new valves and guides for the Matchless - can anyone suggest or
reccomend an engineering house in the Bedfordshire/Midlands area?

    TIA

I know a bloke who works up in York.

He can be a right ****, though.

Ah him! - We spent 5 hours in a car together today and I don't think he was
rude once, however he did say he had a cold so he was prolly off form.

They're good. I had them replace the valve guides on Petrolcan's old
Z400 head when he destroyed that and they did a top job fairly quickly.
They do rebuilds of all manner of old aero engines for the Shuttleworth
Collection, so know what they're doing with old stuff.

Are they the ones that used to be in Honeyhill road many years ago? They

Probably recommended as there's not many ads in that magazine.

Got some Merlin spark plugs in my Triton, been in about 28 years, still
good. Old MOD stock. Got a few spares as well.

Same firm, they moved a few years ago from what I can make out. They're
now in a farm unit off the main drag through Elstow village. Very
helpful chaps who know their stuff.

Somewhere I have an old Lodge plug with platinum electrodes - bought
around 1960 when the HT of the BSA Dandy (not my choice!) declined to
    something unChampionworthy.

I have Lodge plugs in my Triumph - CCL-something-or-other IIRC, which
    dismantle.

I bought one of those in the late fifties for an Ariel single with cams
copied from a Hartley drawing to which I had to fit a soft plug to start and
then change it when hot, went like a rocket but a pain in the arse 'til I
got that plug. Plug was a Lodge HNP, long nose to stop fouling on starting,
and a copper core to conduct the heat away when running, cost 15/- and worth
every penny. Never had any trouble with it and I had to remove head
eventually as I couldn't get it out to check as I left it too long and
thought it would break. Chucked head back on as plug was still like new!
I need to find an 18mm Champion 7 for my '29 Raleigh, still running alright
but centre electrode is disappearing fast. Anyone know where there is one
    please?

Somewhere I should have 3 spare break-down plugs - they are pink ceramics,
cant remember what make they are though (Lodge maybe?) I like to keep a
spare pair for the M4 but you are welcome to the remaining one.

You used to be able to get adaptors so you could fit the slimmer types.

Probably Lodge - some of them, if not all, were pink.
