I know I should post on .classics, but I really cba so

1957 Francis Barnett Plover 150cc Villiers engined 2-stroke. Looks almost
immaculate, brand new MOT etc and known history.

    Been offered it for £500.

    Worth it?

Sure, if it's a runner with an MOT (which sez the rubber's OK??) and
    'immaculate' means it's not a complete rust-bucket!

    See:

    ...for more FB stuff.

(I'm only a 'classic type' because I wuz 10 years old when that was made,
    FFS!! ;-)

Used to have one of these, I seem to remember that it was made in the same
year I was, 1956. It was a 17 year old dog, just like I was, and had a piece
of copper wire instead of an HT lead which sent sparks up my leg when it
rained. Ah good old days! Started first kick every time, even though I
abused it and maintained it like a seventeen year old who didn't give a
    shit. (which I was).

It ran me to work and back (about 12 miles) for a couple of years until it
seized on me and chucked me down the road. I left it at the side of the road
and went to work. When I got back somebody had nicked it and torched it,
probably pissed off because they couldn't get it started.

Well worth £500 if it's in good nick. It blew away my mates Bantam.

    Best wishes

Hehe - ain't that always the case and not always when you're riding a
classic bike. It's a chap at work selling it (who I bought my ickle Honda
off-roader from) - he discovered it in some old boy's shed, hadn't been run
for at least 10 years. He paid £400 for it, replaced the coil, cleaned it
up a little and it started first time. Now he's got it roadworthy, he's
lost interest so is only bothered about recouping his expenses so he can
    move onto something else.

If it is then you're not gong to lose out as any pre-suffix reg is going
    to be worth £500

Italian mate explained his dad had one of the few sold in Italy and that it
costed four times the cost of a house...

    This is what he said.
