SOC - you know it makes sense and SteveH will give you a number to go
    with it.[/QUOTE]

    Got it in one.

Given the amount you spend on PC hardware, I'm sure you can find the
£500 you need to buy a tidy SOC, complete with MOT and tax.

If you buy something really undesireable, then you can stick it on TPO
    insurance, which is dirt cheap.

Round the back of the building is an Audi TT, Ferrari something, aston
martin thing, a beemer and an R1, it was bad enough parking my fazer up next
to them let alone dragging some SOC into the carpark.

And no Im not giving my address out to any of you theiving pikey scum.

Stupid question, will anyone accept my no claims discount? I seem to
remember reading some bike insurances companies take car no claims.

    *sigh*

It's that attitude that drives personal debt. What's wrong with parking,
say, a shite old Mondeo, next to an Aston?

At least you'd have the satisfaction that your car only cost you a week
/ few days wages, and is all yours, not something being paid for on
    finance.

Ahh, now see a mondeo would be ok. I wouldn't class such a thing as a shite
old car. When I hear SOC I think G-reg ford escort or A-reg fiesta/nova/golf

Theres a £2k Nissan almera at the end of the road which looks ok, but maybe
a tad large as a first car.

My instructor tried selling me the pass plus fluff and said once I got a car
I might give him a call and hell show me hopw to work out how to park it,
reverse it into tight places etc. Im tempted to ask my mate if I can borrow
his semi-monster truck for the day ;-) (3 foot high wheels)

Nah, a SOC is pretty much anything up to an N-plate by my definitions
these days. That's certainly about £500 worth of Mondeo / Cavalier etc.
An Almera is only the size of an Escort. Which isn't very big. Although
I'm a fan of bigger stuff from a comford point of view.
Pass Plus would help with the insurance due to your age. Well worth
    doing.

    <snip bike details>

IIRC your woman had a scooter before which she never rode and you had
all sorts of trouble getting repaired? So you're shot of the scoot...now
you're gonna be shot of the proper bike...

    I guess it's pretty plain she *doesn't* like 2 wheeled transport :-(
