I remember watching Marcus on the Rossy's Smash Repairs CBR600 early on.

Successful Australian road racer Marcus Payten lost his life in a trail bike
    accident last weekend in Queensland.

Marcus was riding in the Cooyar Parents & Citizens Association's annual
trail ride, west of Brisbane. His body was found by fellow riders in
bushland near Cooyar. He was unable to be revived and was pronounced
deceased at the scene. It is believed that Marcus crashed and came together
    with a tree.
Marcus finished third in the 1993 Australian 250 Production Championship
behind Robert Baird and Warwick Nowland. He then went on to finished third
in the 1995 Australian 250 Grand Prix Championship behind Craig Connell and
Rip Crocker. The next year he finished runner-up to Alan Watts in the 250
GP Championship, and again he was runner-up in 1997.

Marcus also did a stint in Europe with the troubled Dee Cee Jeans race team
    in 500cc Grand Prix.
Funeral details are still being finalised but it is expected that the
service will be held towards the southern end of the Gold Coast on Friday.

Our deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
