Decide to flog over to Hemel and grab the Uvex Wing RS that they told
me they had. Checked with em before I left and so on

Walked up to the counter and there it was, with a label on it saying
    'Was £299 now £199'

Reesult. I trust it has both visors with it.
You will be ... hopefully. Remember the visor mount points are set up
for the tinted visor and will need adjusting for the clear visor, or
it will not seal properly. This procedure is a right pain in the arse
but you only need to do it once. If you need it explaining, just ask.

Everybody without a Uvex lid can **** off elsewhere for a bit, then
    ....

As there are no instructions supplied, this is a rite of passage,
unfortunately. The first thing you need to do is to remove the tinted
visor that it presumably came fitted with. To enable this, open the
visor fully and find the release catch on one side. This is a
doglegged black plastic lever running forward from the pivot area,
parallel to the lower seal. If you look really closely, you will see
the word 'open' embossed on it.

Get a thumbnail under the end of the lever and push upwards. You
should be able to see (through the rear of the visor) the other end of
the lever going backwards, away from the pivot point which is obscured
by a small oval uvex badge. If the visor is in exactly the right
place, the swivel stop (underneath/behind the tiny rectangular cutout)
should be in the cutout at the top of the ratchet channel ...

Get the nails of your other hand under the top of the visor and wiggle
it free. The first few times it is really quite tight, but if the
pivot is released and the stop is free to come out of the channel, it
should pop in a few seconds. Do not force it, OK?

Repeat with the other side. It is quite normal for the flesh under
your thumbnails to be quite painful by now.

Now the adjusters are visible. Two large black plastic crosshead
screws, one above the other, in front of the pivot point. You will
need to loosen both and slide the lower one forward a bit. This
allows the thicker double-glazed visor to seat properly on the
    chinpiece rubber seal.

Retighten both screws. Fit the clear visor by reversing the removal
method ;-) Check that the clear visor drops nicely on to the chin
seal and snugly on to the forehead seal. The only real way to test
this without experience is to go up the road on the bike, as the wind
roar is noticeable if the visor doesn't seal - as are the draughts
coming up into your eyes across the visor.

Repeat as necessary to get a tight seal - this may take three or four
attempts, but it gets easier as you repeat it, much like anything.
Having said that, I'm still using the dark visor 'cos I can't be
    fucking arsed ;-)

    Good luck.

I would have emailed this, but your email is borked still, innit?

No, it appears to be you. All my spam and business mail is coming in loud
and strong. What address are you using?

Or you could just tell me here?

No worries. You will know if it is wrong, though - draughts from
beneath and water trickles from above are dead giveaways but can be
eliminated by snugging the fit. Oh, and the ratchet always stays that
stiff - the visor will never slam shut in your face, nor rip open when
you look over your shoulder - but it will always be a bit of a bugger
    to open when in gloves.
The spamtrapped, munged one ;-) That'll be why, then.

    Sorted now, anyway.

Well I've moved the hinge unit as far back as it will go (I think) and the
visor still seems to sit off the rubber seals. We shall see tomorrow.
    Better that than this>
Yes, kind of instinctive action on my part there. Sorry

All you can do is give it a go, mate. And then adjust it and give it
    another go.
Takes a while, but it really is worth it to get it 'just so'.
    Indeed.

I loved my comfy old Shark, but it had this fucking disconcerting
habit of slamming shut as I hit 85. The Uvex don't. Bonus.
    NP.
Just one of my (many(anal retentive)) vehement dislikes, that's all.
