No, just one or two items a month but it's stuff that suffers from
counterfeiting. All Saints, Karen Millen and the like.

    That, or ebay hate her.

About 8 or 9 years ago, when I broke my RD collection for spares, it
was apparent that people will pay silly money for good quality used or
    NOS spares.

I made about 4 or 5 times the rideable value of my bikes by breaking
them into component parts and flogging them via the owners club
website. The NOS stuff I had, which was by then mostly unobtainable
from dealers, was snapped up for stupid prices. A NOS RD250/400E rear
mudguard that I bought from a Yamaha dealer for 30 quid a few years
before, sold for over 120, and that was normal for most of the spares I
    got rid of.

Horsedrawn websites are fugitive amongst the intertubes.

  6. Ah, right, yes, they're probably under the impression she's flogging
    counterfeit stuff.

  8. Seriously? What sort of prices is the stuff fetching?

    (Don't worry - I'm not a competitor....)

Not to mention many exhaust/silencer items.

  11. A surprising number of classic Jap exhaust systems are now being
    remanufactured.

I'm surprised Armours don't do them.

53 quid for a pair of very badly painted metal side panels with 3 1/2
badges and 23 for a pair of equally requiring painting footrests.26
quid for fork top nuts, though elybymoto specials with valves - to a
UK buyer in that case though.

  14. Armours mostly does Brit stuff, I think.

Motad does a Z650 4-2 ystem now. Jama do a variety of things. Motad is
dong the Dave Silver 4-1 for the 400 Four. You can get a set of Kawasaki
H1 or H2 replica pipes made in the US. And in Japan, you can get the
    Kawasaki Z1/900 4-4 and the Z1000 4-2 systems.

    At a price, of course....

What you can't get are replica two-stroke systems, with the exception of
    the Kawasaki pipes above.

Indeed. And very good quality it is too. I'm just surprised they haven't
    expanded into Japanese stuff.

  16. IKWYM. Obviously, you've got to have a base of machines looking for
pipes, of a size to make the tooling up viable.

That's not as easy as you might think.

Or you need to have a clientele that'll pay a lot for a system. A bit
    easier.

The Japanese have produced so many different models, you really need to
concentrate on maybe 12-20, if you're after cornering the market in
bikes that are crying out for replica systems.

    Suzuki Kettles
Some Honda twins - the 250/350 series, prolly.
    400 Four
Yamaha RD twins, air and water-cooled
    Quite a few Kawasaki fours
    and a few others.

The two problem I see with this are (a) you need a trustworthy recipient
at the other end - like TOG, for example - and (b) it's a heck of a lot
of driving out here for a few bikes. If I was in a place like the Bay
Area things would be slightly different, but out here there is fairly
slim pickings in relation to the distance driven.

  20. No. Lovely bikes, and restorable, but they just don't command even
four-figure prices for the best ones.

Interestingly, there are some cheap pattern systems coming out of Japan,
mostly for bikes that they clone, like Suzuki GS/GN singles, Honda
CG125s (Makes Sign of Holy Pushrods) and the like.

I've used them on a Honda CD200 Benly and I have one on my GN250. They
fit, but the plating is utter crap. OTOH, they're cheap - the Benly
cans, including downpipes, were under £40 a side and the GN250 system
    was £100.

But if you wanted durability, it wouldn't cost a fortune to get them
    rechromed before fitting.
