Some folks would bitch if you beat them with a "new broom."

Evidently, someone actually has heard the crying of the riders concerning
track time at L/S. When you hear a universal bitch, there just might be
something to it! A few people may wax nostalgically for the 2 strokes but to
include them would be at the expense of other classes. Remember, the second
weekend of July IS an AMA date. The AMA fans (whether you're one or not)
have provided the foundation that's going to make this whole thing happen.
I'm not saying they're not fast or not interesting, personally, I kinda dig
the smell of 'em AT THE TRACK.(eau de Blendszall) It reminds me of the old
days, sorry, I digress.. IMO, Mark is "dead on" in his regard to this, maybe
not so "politically" correct but correct nonetheless. "Nuff said, if you're
interested in starting a (dinosaur) 2 stroke/4 stroke thread, I'd imagine it
    would be "robust."

"How much relevance does F1 have to street cars?"
I guess you haven't noticed the 450hp SUV's available today or for that
matter the 350hp station wagons! Jeez, do you think someone, all of a
sudden, just pulled all that out of their ass? It's the only "trickle down"
theory that has really ever worked...

"I don't know anyone who's so hyper-interested in identifying with the bikes
out on the track as "being jus' like I ride" that they would simply ignore
the important part: the racing. The 125s and 250s put on a good race."
Now that's a telling statement. I grew up in M/C racing, was a rider,
wrench, sponsor and a rabid ass fan for more years than I'll admit to in
this forum but if you don't think brand loyalty and being "like Mike" isn't
a big factor you are in need of neurosurgeon. If that wasn't the motivating
factor, MoFo's wouldn't be involved, would they?

Bottom line. It's been said more than a few times, that nothing has a
shorter shelf life than an airplane seat and a ticket to a M/C race. Once it
leaves the gate or the flag drops, neither has any value. Understanding that
truism, I feel L/S is on the right track. Building on your fan base, praying
for good weather and not confusing the event, might, just might, make it
    work. We'll see....

BTW- Pablo, quit jerking Mark's chain. Agree to disagree. Opinions are like
a**holes, most everyone has one and mostly they stink. Smelling up this
place is what it's here for. Pointing out a particular smelly one is your
prerogative, I feel you both have done that. Let it go....

Actually, what I want is SpeedTV to get a camera in a Helicopter. I love the
aerial shots of the GPs as the train of riders serpentines around the track.
It looks so fast and fluid.

I'm betting the USGP will be a wild success in 2005. We'll see about beyond.
A few people here in Kansas City who I've never heard express interest in
attending even an AMA race have already bought tickets and campsites and are
planning week long road trip to California. That's some serious drawing
power when you consider it's an 3,600 mile round trip.
