Why is it that almost every used bike I happen upon has an asking price of
about 25% over Parker's?

Why is it that Ebay auctions often /start/ at said ridiculous price, rather
than starting lower and letting people (shock horror) bid?

I suppose everyone thinks he has the best wife at home[1] but even so, it's
like each vendor thinks he is immune to the market.

I won't go lower than 4500, and you have to take the tax off.

 

Not bad for a wife if the contract is right.
