    Why would you want to? I thought swap-space (whatever the OS) was best on
    the fastest possible drive?

    You can, if you like dog slow performance. It can go on any drive
    with a drive letter.

  9. Yes, but you might not want to do it for long.

    I do it when I want to defrag a drive as much as possible -- put
    a swap file on a USB stick and scrub the one on the C: drive; defrag twice;
    then remove the one on the stick and re-create a fixed-size swap file on
    the disk.

    This 'yer 8GB USB stick that I loaded Ubuntu onto automatically
    made a 350 MB swap partition, but if the machine I'm booting it with has
    a linux swap partition I'll activate it with swapon and kill the USB one
    with swapoff. (Only thought to try the Medion laptot's WiFi under Ubuntu
    tonight -- no official driver for it. :-()

    I on the other hand would like a nice 64GB one to carry a music and stuff
    and as a backup device.
