  3. Not only in UK Mark. I have Swiss or Finish colleagues who'd like to have
seen Luthi or Kallio racing in USA. I know.... small countries in Europe.

I'll just note that in Superbikeplanet's round up of fan emails there's
a surprising number of Americans who said they would have liked to see
    125 and 250GP at Laguna.

And of course, that the Australians only have two production based
    national championships and not four.

Most GP rounds manage to have 5 races on the Sunday. There's enough time
in the day to have the 3 GP races and two full length national
championships. Where it gets tricky are the previous days and practice.
If the MotoGP is the normal 1 hour 1st practice and not 2 and if there's
one extra day for National practice on the Thursday, then it is do-able.

But then the National Rodeo event that's going to run simultaneously
with Laguna next year will mean there's no hotel rooms, so what does it
    matter...

My own preferance would have been to ditch the AMA schedule and run the full
125, 250, MotoGP grand prix schedule.

Are you 15 years old? Is your heavy, non-agile bike your only ego builder?

The 125's will rip through the corners in a way the motogp's can only dream
    of.

    They have a national championship.

I wanted to go to the race but it's pretty far and pretty expensive.

That's such bullshit. Plenty of American fans would watch 125's and
250's. I sure as hell would. Incidentally, did you know that golf
became mainstream here _after_ a bunch of TV execs decided to put it on
TV because they liked it? I do hear what you're saying about the issue
of time, but somehow, when WSBK was there for a double-header weekend,
they managed to have all AMA races as well as all WSBK races (including
supersport). Yes, they even raced the late AMA 250 GP class.
Admittedly, all this was done over the course of 3 days, not 2.

And, if Americans hated 250's and 125's, Speed Channel wouldn't run them.

  11. Why should they? If there is no money in bringing the others they probably
wouldn't pay much, if anyting extra.
Assen held as usual a full GP and a full EC the same weekend this year as
previous years, except last year when the EC were arranged together with
WSB. But than again, they are uesed to that size of arrangements and I can
see that could be a problem for a bunch of guys over there eating burgers
    and drinking bud light.

I've more than likely pissed off Julian and a few of my precious
Small 2 strokes still abound around
European cities - as they do in Asia. The technology is far from
being irrelevant to modern transport, nor is it moribund.
Why shouldn't 2 strokes be represented in a World championship?
Whatever, I can't wait to see and
hear the, all new, KTM 250 in action on Sunday.

Which is all somewhat irrelevant here. For whatever reasons 125GP and
250GP are going to be around for a few years yet. At least partly
because nobody knows what to replace them with.
    What's not?

  16. I am amazed at your knowledge of GP, specially the history, but I this is
almost to much. You have knowledge of the actual business deals of Dorma? As
_allways_ any price is negotiable, especially when Dorma _want_ a particular
country in its tour plan. Why you find that unnegotiable is a little to
    much, not?
The EC did have little free practice but no, this go over a three day
weekend, possibly one day more. Last yar I was there with a norwegian team
and the races went on schedule without problems despite a fatal acseident.
Btw, the GP schedule do have some flexibilty, Assen should prove that.

    Bah!!!! No concession.

When a motogp race that's really close between a bunch of guys happen, the
announcers say it's unusually like a 125 race. The Laguna crowd was robbed
of probably seeing a real brawl with lots of place changes every lap.

It's neat to see trucks racing, but a real race with lots of passing is
    better.

I don't know why they don't go to external mufflers for the new 4-strokers.
I'd like a Honda 2 and a dingy to stuff in my van!

For sure, in the many, many racing clubs in US the out-of-the-box pukka real
grand prix bike for the cost of a car isn't going to be fading. The size of
    the packs is healthy.
