Zymurgy's supposed to be picking up my Tiger this weekend, but the
    battery seems to have died.

So I need a fairly urgent replacement - any suggestions of where to
    try?

    cheers

My local small bike workshop has a range of the most common types on the
    shelf.

yeeessh. I don't have a "local small bike workshop". Apart from
G.Matthews where I had the MOT done, and they didn't have any
batteries that I saw. I'll give them a bell.

I've used http://www.tayna.co.uk/ for my last two (a BMW and an XV).
The prices were not bad and delivery was 2 days IIRC.

neither list bike batteries on their websites.

I can find them online for <£40 inc. delivery, but I'm not that
confident that it'd be delivered on time.

    It's a fairly common battery (CTX-14BS) - I'll keep looking.

Try phoning them. when the ZRX went pop Timo managed to pick me up a
battery at his local HG, and it was waiting for me when I got off the
    ferry.

I've no chance of getting to an HG before Saturday, which is leaving
    it a little late.

I'll give Halfrauds a bell, as there's one 10 minutes drive from my
    place.

    ahforgettaboutit.

After a hiatus of not doing them, Bush Batteries round the corner from
where I used to live do bike batteries again, and have one in stock.

Not the cheapest, but I'd rather pay the extra tenner compared to
online sales so I can pick it up today.

I'd give Halfrauds a call, assuming you have a local one.

They certainly used to sell genione Yuasa batteries a few years back
when I needed one for my old Blackbird.

    Their website seems mostly shit.

I do, though as per my other post I've found one in the "shop that
used to be a bike/car battery shop then became a motorhome and
leisure battery shop but which has recently restarted to stock car and
bike batterys shop" that's 2 mins from my place.
It's a genuine Yuasa I'm after, though I may give Halfords a call
anyway, as the other place isn't the cheapest I've found by a 20%
    margin.

Did you try looking up the battery name/number from the old battery?
They may stock the battery type but not link it to the bike.

There's a Triumph dealer in Chingford that I was thinking of trying,
but I imagine their prices aren't that keen. As per other post I've
found somewhere literally within walking distance of my house that has
    them in stock. Thanks anyway.

North City Triumph - they are really very nice people in there, but as
you say, they wouldn't have beeen cheap. We have a small motor parts
shop near us who stocks bike batteries for sit-on lawnmowers, t5hat's
where Pip and I get ours from.

I see you are sorted now. For future reference, gardening equipment shops
often have Yuasa batteries in stock or available for next day delivery.
Some bike batteries are common to Honda ride-on mowers.

I discovered this when a mate's CX500 needed a new battery whilst in the
Scottish Highlands, thanks to our Kawasaki owning B&B host.

Heinz Gherkin in Maidstone definitely do bike batteries, because that's
where I got one for ginge when he cooked his on the way back from Chimay
    last year.

Their webshite is also quite useless...
If that's a regular non-gel battery you're likely to end up with a dry
battery mail order because a lot of the mailorder places won't ship
    acid.

MC Servicing in Ware are not far from you. They may have something in
stick. Google or the BT on-line directory thingy will get you the
    details.
