I was talking to a couple right wing republican nut jobs the other day
and we were discussing politics. We kept arguing about everything.
Finally we found some common ground and agreed on something. No matter
how this election in November turns out, the best thing will be Bush
won't be in the White House after January 20th.

I believe for Obama to lose this election would be like Lance
Armstrong losing at the special olympics....even in a republican place
like Denver, all I saw were cars with Obama '08 stickers on them....

DC Sucked. Very Very Very dirty and nasty place. Trash all over
everything. Reflective pool was full of goose shit. One couldnt even
walk on the walkways around it for all the goose shit. The water
stunk..it was littered with feathers and floating turds. People there
were not friendly..didnt see anyone smileing or having a good time. It
was also mighty dark there. Someone said the checks are next day there
so it will stay dark. We went into several of the Smithsonians...didnt
see anything in there or the city that wow-ed me. Even the woman there
were butt ugly. If you did see a white woman which was rare and she
was half way decent looking, she was a tourist.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who felt that way.

Makes one wonder how someone could live in a place like that...hmm?

You really must make the time to go. I had a great time there and I
    think you will too.

In late November, 1979, I drove with a friend up to D.C., from Ft.
Benning, GA. I went visit my aunt in Pawtucket Rhode Island, after
my uncle died suddenly. Judie and I stayed at her mother-in-law's
brownstone in D.C., then I took a train (the next morning) to
Pawtucket. I think the train ride was the worst thing I ever
experienced in my life. (that's another story.)
One of the best experiences was later visiting the Smithsonian Natural
History Museum, the Arlington National Cemetery (I visited the Tomb of
the Unknown, JFK's tomb with the Eternal Flame, saw the Changing of
the Guard, etc.), the Capitol Building, Lincoln & Jefferson Memorials,
Washington Monument and the White House. I didn't take the White
House tour but we parked out front and saw the flag flying, which
means the President (Carter) was "home". I did take pictures and it
was a whirlwind tour but a wonderful experience, nonetheless. I was
especially awestruck by the National Cemetery. All those crosses, all
    those souls...

At the time I was there, the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum was
being remodeled inside and they had the area where the T-Rex skeleton
was, all cordoned off and covered with plastic. I still had a great
time, looking at all the other exhibits.
I guess one has to appreciate history, to really enjoy museums. I
also enjoyed visiting the Natural History Museum in Frankfurt,
Germany. They had the King Tut exhibit there, when Joe and I were
stationed at Fliegerhorst Kaserne ('80-'83). I love to visit
    museums. Even small ones.

Washington, D.C. must have been much cleaner back in 1979, or maybe it
was because I saw it through younger eyes. Everything seemed fine to
me, all except when Judie and I first pulled into town that Saturday
night. The only thing bad, was when we stopped at a traffic light
down town, on the way to her MIL's home. A hooker approached the
pickup. Being a "country girl", I was aghast! I then understood why
Judie told me to lock my door, don't roll down the window and don't
    look at anyone!
Other than that incident, everything was great and I'd love to go back
some day and take Joe with me.
Joe was stationed for a short time, at Ft. Meade, Maryland. He got as
far as the north D.C. "city limits", he said. He and the buddy he was
with didn't like the area, so they went back to Post. He missed
    out.

===========Thanks Sunny for your coomments. The way I look at it is:
''like going to a Movie'', one that someone else told me ''It is not a
good movie, dont go''! I'd go anyway to see for myself!!
Like I said, I love USHistory. I love Texas History. The Smithonian
Institutes houses every piece of American History. Even Elvis and some
of his stuff is in there. I had a friend & his and his wife, flew to
DC only...To go to the Smithonian museums./ It took them about 3
days, and I think he said they stilld idnt see it all. Plus, I wanna
see and visit the White House, the House where Washington,Lincoln, and
Carter (kidding about Carter)) lived......... MrJayT....

"One man's trash is another man's treasure."
How would you like to catalog every item. Talk about job
    security. ;-)
Luckily, Carter was there for only one term.

==============LS, I don't think so. Baroma can do good speeches,
Goober Carter sounded like Jeff Foxworthless, when he did a speech.
Remember, how he stuttered, and had that silly ass ''GWBush side
    grin''...........hehe MrJayT-

==========well, I believe you need to turn your TV on, and just listen
& watch 'one time', and just see how well the man can conduct a
speech. He is almost as good as Kennedy was, and Dr. king was. And
they were great. Now on the other Hand, even GWBush, can make a speech
better than John Boring McCain. And brother that is saying something!!
Cause Bush will go down as being as bad at it, ''as was Goober Carter.
    hehe
Poor old McCain seems to go into a slumber, when he mumbles his sure
nuff' written speech on some rigged up 36'' size
    ''prompter''...heheheheheheheh JayT-

=================soooooo, L...S. you seemto be one of those nuts who
want Bush to get a third term, huh? Cause that's what we'll get, if
John Boring McCain sombers into the white House as President.
