Having said that I do see the warped sense of pleasure gained by your
    mission... as you were.

I always considered you to be the "voice of reason".

Warped? What's warped about it? I thought all pleasure was relative to
    someone else's misery...

    'Fraid not Des.
You are the voice of many things, but not "reason" IMHO.

My OED gives examples of "reason" in the following ways:
"has good reasons for doing this; there is no reason to be angry"
    "sanity (has lost his reason)"

Incidentally, it also reckons "Reasonless" is derived ultimately via the
    latin "ratio-onis".

    ;)

I had one as a first bike. I'd have another if I had to commute into
    Central London again.

Voice of treason maybe; look at the evidence.

    - Left the uk to a country on continental europe.
    - Is a snob and continually harks on about 'class' and 'schooling'
    - Broadcasts continually to the uk

Well someone must be receiving an awful lot of pleasure because I'm a
    miserable sulking bastard :-((((

In fact I believe I hold the sulking record.... eight days whilst on holiday
with the family in the Isle of Wight, mind you I thing being in the IOW gave
    me an unfair advantage ;-)

This is true. Having ridden out with Champ (and others) the given is that I
will always bring up the rear. This probably says more about me than the
bike though, and if Champ and I swapped bikes, whilst he probably wouldn't
be at the fron of the pack he would still be near the front. I, however,
would still be bringing up the rear, albeit on a 1 litre sprotsbike.
They are nice in a 1st bike, user friendly, does what it says on the tin
kind of way. As I can in no way, shape or form ride it to it's limit yet it
    suits me fine.
Horses for courses innit. BTW, what was your first "proper" bike (you've
prolly posted this info before, but I cba to google for it). Also, how long
    did you keep it?

Didn't James Toseland start out racing CB500s? Rather quickly too, IIRC.
