Fuel tap assemblies for my FJ1100 have been unavailable from Yamaha for many
years (the FJ1200s don't have the same sadly) Even the FJ owners club can't
get them. Rebuild kits were produced in the '80s but *not* been easy to find
since early '90s. Secondhand FJ1100 fuel taps are almost certain to have one
or both diaphragms U/S as I've found to my cost. As I have at least 2 carbs
with worn float pivots and possibly float valves, the fuel now wants to wash
the carpark here at work. Damned expensive.
Purely by chance while searching ebay for yet another set of carbs to
scavenge bits from, I found a seller (Bike Business of Portsmouth) who has
Japanese manufactured FJ1100 fuel tap complete rebuild kits!!!! £12.99 inc
p&p. Excellent. Ordered yesterday, arrived today. A happy bunny is I.

  2. Just for the benefit of anyone else - NRP carburettors in the Midlands,
who do those replacement diaphragms for carbs, are almost certain to be
able to do vacuum fuel tap diaphragms as well.

Sadly not in this case. I called them first.
Bit of a strange design is te FJ1100 tap.

Sounds like you should snap up a few of them, then Nige them out one
at a time. If others have been having the same problem finding them
there's probably a fair profit to be made by the unscrupulous...

The previous one lasted 99782miles and I'll probably replace the old beast
before it does another 30k or so.
There aren't too many FJ1100 left on the road now. Loads of 1200s though.
