Some of you might remember mention of that colleague of mine who came
to a messy end while kite surfing a few weeks back. He had a Skoda,
limited edition something-or-other. He did tell me, but I really
didn't care that much. It was flash, and suited him.

It certainly moved nicely, though. Shame about the number plate, mind
    - that'd be (nearly) a WHOOOSH then!

Not least because *every* avensis is slow as shit, I'd guess.

  4. Must have been something wrong with this one then, it was clearly going
    at eek mph

But if it were unmarked it might not be *every* avensis ... like the
guys who tune up Ladas ...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that sounds a bit sharp for a 2 litre
    repmobile.

  9. Indeed it was, but I'm thinking more of a reputed souped up Minor that
was used as a sort of stealth traffpol vehicle.

Half and half. I wasn't paying attention..

0-60 about 9.5 sec (let's call it ten)

    V6 vectra was 7.2 (let's call it 8) IIRC..

137 isn't quick if it takes a week to get there.

  11. that'd be off the shelf versions tho right?
I'd be surprised if your average traffplod or whatevers are off the
    shelf standard configuration.

Depending on which stats you read my 2-litre repmobile will hit 60 in
7.8s. It does top out at 135 TGS (aerodynamic limit!).

I thought if anything was uprated it is usually the brakes.

They are - not a lot of point in uprating a 150mph car - hardly any
pursuits get anywhere need that speed and its just not realistic to do
anything more than that sort of speed on route to incidents. As well
as that it would invalidate the warranties - and with Volvo giving a 3
year 180K warranty to police it just wouldnt make sense.
