    Grimly Curmudgeon says...
I watch his programme on TV, he seems ok and does treat his mum well.
His cousin Stevie is a bit of an arsehole though.

    I didn't even get that.

"I'm thinking about getting a new exhaust and need to check first
    whether
it'll have an effect on my insurance."

    "Is it road legal?"

"Well, I haven't got it yet, but it probably won't be."

"Hmm, it seems Highway don't care either way."

"In that case, I have already got it, and I'd like to add it to my
    policy please."

"I knew you'd already got it. OK, it's noted. No extra charge."

And that was that. Thankyou H&R :)

Except one point you missed - but one paper I read didn't - is that if they
DO have it confiscated, they are more likely to be willing to let their
pikey motor get crushed and get another one given it might have only cost up
to a few hundred quid, than it would for them to sort out insurance etc. So
basically its encouraging these pikeys to carry on driving uninsured but in
crappier cars. Thus somewhat sidetracking the issue, which I think most the
replies here taken on board. Might discourage some of the dickheads with
larging-it stereos costin "faasands of paands" but who might not be too
concerned with insurances for their convertible astras but thats about it.

Crush the driver thats taking the problem head on, that sounds good and word
would travel fast if they just got medieval on their pikey asses. Might also
help control the small percentage of those forementioned having a bearing in
the illegal immigration problem at the same time oh and they could have a
by-product for the kitty kat and doggie industry while yer at it [1]!

[1] Anyone getting defensively moralistic about this suggestion might want
to appreciate the lack of concern of such "motorists" having killed legal
    road users
