speeds I'm busy not falling off and stuff :)

The continental 'cocked leg' is just as effective and allows the rider to
remain in control with both hands firmly, but lightly, in touch with the
    controls.

I very rarely come across drivers where I truly think that they are
deliberately trying to block. IME, the number of drivers that do
actively move out the way has increased in recent years. Also,
where possible, a cheery wave of thanks always helps.
Those that don't get out of the way are almost certainly half asleep.

This sounds as if you are speaking from experience, but now you mention it
do you think that knuckle armour is of any real benefit?

All armour is of benefit, even if you don't use it as armour.

For a start it makes you look like an 'ard bastard.

Since fitting knee pads in me keks I have no troubles with my slightly
arthritic knees, even in the coldest of cold winters.

Am I the only person who hasn't attacked another vehicle when riding and
considers it 'wrong' to do so?

    No.

That said if someone was deliberately driving in to me and I couldn't
accelerate or brake to get out of the way I'd feel justified in kicking
their door or putting a window through - but it'd be a choice I'd not
    make lightly.

Probably not but I suspect you are in the minority which means that your

I have, but only because they were deliberately trying to knock me off
    at the time.

I doubt I'd do it again, I'd just get the **** out of there.

As a cyclist I dented the roofs of two cars who cut me up. Mostly as a
warning to avoid killing me, but I had no regrets about the damage.

I wouldn't go out of my way to do it, though.

I have, on two occasions [1]. TBH my thoughts on my actions now are
"what a wanker", at the time it was "**** me I didn't know there was
quite that much wire in one wing mirror" and "I hope he hasn't taken
    down my registration..."

[1] One occasion he had run my foot over at a junction, the time other
forced me onto the central reservation. Still wasn't justified.

Oh, I'm quite capable of doing it in the heat of the moment. More than
capable. I just don't think it would be the right thing to do and in
the long run would be counter-productive.

I've told a slight lie up above anyhow. On one occasion I did take a
swipe at a post office van... but missed. I now think "what a twat" on
two counts a) that I tried it and b) that I missed.

    A warning?

How does that work then? Denting the roof of someone's car is probably
likely to encourage some people to use their car as a weapon to your
disadvantage. Unless, of course, you've chosen the car-driver
    carefully.

I've never actually impacted onto another vehicle. I have made it clear
    that I would though
Well, I'd say only in self defence

This has also happend to me.

There was no, AFAIWC, justification. The car driver stopped in front
of me after crossing a completley empty lane.

I have also had two cars bump my rear tyre during which time I was
stationary, in heavy traffic, and waiting for a car to move away from
    a bollard in front.

I was at some lights once, in the left lane ( the one with the ****
arrow pointing straight on) next to a car in the right lane ( the one
with the **** arrow that says turn right only, because if you were to
go straight you would hit a bollard)

The car and myself took off at the same time and, at the last second
the driver swerved towards me, twice. The line of parked cars' wing
mirrors on my left received some a battering from my left bar end.

    Frightening.

    Revenge is Sweet.
