Is there any way we could get some gripperods (those prickly things
for carpets) from Daventry to Reading, or just collected and held, for
    that matter?

But not too tightly, one presumes.

(A mate, after he had his garage burgled by some low-life who climbed
over his garden wall, affixed those things to the inside edge of the
wall parapet, should said low-life try again)

One of my mates has them nailed to the top of his 6 ft garden wall too.
He inspects it very now and then and always finds evidence of someone's
    skin and blood somewhere.

It's my understanding that your pal is breaking some rule/law by doing that.
If it's not correct, he's left himself open to at least a civil suit if
anyone, for any reson should injure themselves on the spikes.

  15. Theres a house down in the village which still has one of those old walls
with broken ale bottles etc in cement on top of it.

Don't see those as much as you used to.

  17. Trouble with this approach, though, is that it tends to remove
