Would anyone in the London area be able to pick up a bunch of model
aircraft from Pinner and stick them on the underground railway to
    Flitwick please?

Diecast 1/100 scale ones - the boy is an avid collector of them.
Ooooh, now that could be a project for number one sprog the summer.
Do you want to email me some details?

I'm afraid my eldest (aged 10) has inherited my love of aircraft and
aviation. At the age of 2 he stunned a middle-aged anorak (1)
standing next to us at Mildenhall by correctly identifying a KC135,
F16 and C5 (2) as they took off.

I'm far from being an expert on them (he's fast outpacing me in the
aircraft knowledge department), but I've spent many happy years
standing on the flight line at the Mildenhall air show and the like.

He picked up his early ID skills from a large pile of photos that I'd
taken at various airshows - no need for picture books and flashcards!
His favourite book now is a large encyclopedia of military aircraft.

He's taken to collecting diecast models after a fortuitous find ina
local charity shop, and is already planning to join the ATC (3).

    (1) complete with shortwave radio, notebook and flask.
    (2) amongst others.
    (3) he's somewhat singleminded and has decided that he's going to be
    an RAF pilot.

  6. May I congratulate you on your superb parenting skills. Himself thinks you
are doing a public service here, as there aren't enough new spotters coming
    through the ranks.
If you've not been, he'd probably love the fly ins at both Popham and Little
Gransden. Small, friendly, you can wander very freely in amongst the planes,
and delightfully old fashioned. And very good food stalls, too. One chap
does organic burgers and a pig roast. (Yes, Pip, two euros.)
There are some pretty decent local groups that publish good mags. Shout if
you're interested, and I'll point you in the right direction.
Himself does all of that except the flask.
    Splendid lad.

btw, we've got two garage pixies across the road, I think. Some bloke has
converted his double in to a flat and is renting it out at 160 quid a
    week....

A little off from planes but if he wants any info on "gen force" (1) tanks
and artillery i can post it to you.

I had to learn to spot these and know all the details i.e how far it fires,
what rounds it uses ,and what likely to be with it. I used to come home and
sit in a dark room as my head was mashed each night.

    (1) generic enemy tends to be older stuff but the things we as the uk are
likely to encounter in a war

    Excellent.[/QUOTE]

He's a good lad and I'm very proud of him.

The youngest (aged 8), is similarly anorakish but has chosen dinosaurs
    as his specialist subject.

His current career aspirations are to be either a paleontologist or
an author (he's attempting to write his first 'book' at the moment -
    bless him).
