I've, err, sort of accidentally won a FJ1200 engine on Ebay.

However my last but 1 working car is in Norn Iron.

Anyone local, or is he going to have to send it by ParcelFarce ?

    Let me know,

    Cheers,

    Paul.

  2. So where's your last working car then?
isn't Monz in that general direction? Regardless, PF will be fooking
    expensive.

  3. I'm not local... but the car I'm going to collect from Bolton on the
    16th, is.

However... I've got a pressing engagement in the evening, namely an
Xmas piss up with a load of the lads I was contracting with up until
October, and given I've organised it, I suppose the least I can do is
turn up, so I don't want to spend hours being sidetracked.

Refresh my memory - you're on the south eastern side of London, aren't
    you?

Hmm, Barnsley is a fair whack to the east of there, but if you're
heading back over to the M1 ..
No probs. Just let me know if you are up for it and I can arrange a
    quick pickup.
Was, I moved over to the Camberley area about 3 years ago.

But TBH, if you or anyone else can shift it 200 miles further down the
    M1, that would be outstanding.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

It just so happens I live in Barnsley and by a cruel twist of fate have just
quit my most recent appointment to go lorry driving again...

And even more good news... I drive down to Edmonton most nights

not so good news... it's usually early morning when I arrive at Edmonton

  8. If you could collect it, it'll save me doing a fair sized detour.

I'm also tied by the fact I'm travelling up by train, meaning the
earliest I can get to where I need to be is 12.30pm. which given the
planned evening, doesn't leave me too much time to piss around during
    the day.
WC is near there and always up at the crack of dawn, isn't he?

I haven't known any Dawns for years and Edmonton's hours away. I also
work in a freezer lorry that gets down to as much as minus 30. Without a
    tail-lift.

You could leave it in my garden but..

    This is superb news.

How 'bout I send the ackers over to him, and if you could pick up and
store local for the minute that would be superb.

Let me know your favourite tipple too for your trouble.

    I don't think I have your number. I'll consult the switchboard (i.e.
    Jackie) to get it.

    Cheers,

    Paul

    Did I miss the post?

I assume they told you that, now you were management, you had to start
    sacking people then.......

I didn't post it as it has only happened this week...

It went along the lines of, "We would like you to continue at your present
salary for 3 to 6 months [1] until we are sure of your abilities and then we
will look at the situation and if there is a strong business case for a
fully fledged IT dept you will definitely be the man in charge of it, oh and
by the way, please say hello to Mr. XXX who looks after all our IT needs at
    our other companies"

....much as I didn't want to burn my bridges, you can guess the rest

[1] Funnily enough this is about the timescale I would put on transferring
all the data and business processes out of the system I designed and into
the one they currently use at there other company.

Sounds unpleasant in a "That's business" kind of way that I'm glad I haven't
had to deal with for 20 months now.

    Dave

PS. Either that or they took my advice on how to deal with someone who
never sends out the DVDs he's promised... :^P
