Short vowels aren't usually written in arabic unless the
pronounciation of a word is being emphasised. And actually the writing
of short vowels was only introduced by monks who were learning arabic
a few hundred years ago. The short vowels sounds of "a" "e" "u" are
written either as a small slash above or below a constanent or as 9
above a constanent. Some word processor programs are a bit buggy with
attaching the short vowels but you don't really need the short vowels
    unless you're a beginner.

Arabic has absorbed a lot of English and French words, particulary the
technical words. Some Arabic groups have tried to generate technical
words from Arabic roots rather than transliterating but these words
    aren't widely accepted.

Yep that's right Zebee, as far as I know.. usually the first 3 or 4
forms of the word and plural are distinct and then the word becomes
"many" (apples). ie. apple, appleen, appleena, appleeza, 10 apples.

You'd better look at the label next time you front an ATM Nev. About 75% of
ATMs in Oz say NCR on the dashboard.
