Surely this is not a true story

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/3258811.stm

Story about couple of nutters planning to introduce their baby to a group of
    gorillas.

"Neither parent has any qualms about letting their daughter be taken off
despite five keepers being killed by animals at Howletts and its sister
park, Port Lympne, since 1980. "

The killer animals referred to in the article are "non-gorilla".

If she was planning on putting her baby in the tiger cage ...

What's to stop one of the gorillas lobbing the baby across into the tiger
cage? You've only got to look at the size of the arms on a gorilla to
realise they would be good at lobbing things.

  5. Funnily enough, they'd also be very good at American Football.

    Coincidence?

    I THINK NOT!

    heheh.

I susprised myself and turned down the job[1] as a matter of
    principle.

[1] a large part of which was to build a globally distributed spam
    engine.

  11. Or with the elephants.

The gorillas are great. I've been there years ago when Aspinall and his
kids were in the gorilla enclosure The kids would be more at risk in
Canterbury. I've met old man Aspinall personally and he is 'dedicated'
    to his gorillas.

I also saw the documentary on the box last night. Excellent!

Saddest[1] face I've ever seen was Guy the Gorilla at London Zoo.
30 years in a small prison.

[1] I don't know if that is the word to describe his looks. If you had
seen him you would know what I mean.

  12. One of my old local lads, a bit of a piss head, got a job there. He
changed over night. He had been given responsibility for one of the
elephant cows that was about to give birth. He would sit in the pub
drinking orange juice reading through his notes with his mobile next to
him in case there was a call.
Aspinall's dedication rubbed off on people.

  13. He was a friend and neighbour when Little Bruvver and I were littler.
Little Bruvver went round to play at Damian Aspinall's flat (OK, his
Dad's flat) in Eaton Square, and they had a chimp in residence. As you
    do.

The kids let the bloody chimp out.

There was a Keystone Kops chase down towards Sloane Square involving the
chimp, two crying kids, three coppers and half a dozen passers-by.

sure, good point. The man's rather more famous for the line of
business that I would have been (tenuously) employed in, mind you.
