UKRM Underground Railway - Germany, Holland, Denmark, Luxembourg?

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Grimly Curmudgeon, Mar 15, 2007.

  1. Anybody in Germany, Holland, Denmark or Luxembourg willing to act as a
postal address and post something on to me? German Ebay seller is
charging an exhorbitant rate to post to me, but a simple forwarding
    arrangement might be much cheaper.

    Item here...

Not in any of those countries, but I can offer you an adress in France
or Switzerland if it's any good for you. Maybe even UR it back instead
of posting it, depending on when Adie's next over here...

  3. He says he won't post to Switzerland because of the high cost of postage
(seems odd to me) and his postal charge to France isn't particularly
cheap either, whereas the post to GHDL is only 9.40euros.

Basically, he's quoting me 35Eu postage on a battery pack, which strikes
me as ridiculous, since I've had similar stuff from Germany for half
    that cost.

Posting _to_ Switzerland shouldn't be any more expensive than the
other countries, but there is the extra hassle of customs declarations
    etc.
I don't understand this at all. Posting from either of my two
countries of residence has one set of international rates, one for the
rest of Europe (usually including the UK) and one for the rest of the
    world.
Sounds like he's pulling your plonker. Admittedly I don't know who
he's sending with, but DeutschePose/DHL lump all the mentioned
countries into Zone 1, which admittedly is more than he's quoting, at
17 Eu for up to 5Kg.

Oh, hang on, here's a much cheaper product, at only 8.60 for up to
    2kg.

  9. No worries, it's handy anyway.

On the powerpack batteries... I've just discovered I can get a ten-pack
of 3300mAh tabbed cells from Merka for 25usd + 20usd postage. So the
awkward bugger in Germany loses a sale.

I wonder if the RC car and chopper crowd might know of the cheapest
    source?

  11. Thanks for the offer, but I'll hang fire on this until I've sorted out a
    possibly more advantageous supply.
