Why is that a concern? I suspect the Strom is still capable enough that
you'll bottle out before it's geometry or performance becomes the
limiting factor. The fun is in finding how much of that performance you
feel comfortable exploring, and how much you improve your lines and lap
    times over the day.

I found just the opposite. I hardly used the brakes on the track, but
use them far too much on the road.

Well, yes I was/am trying to. At the time I had a good wheeze, but
    then that was rumbled.

Now I'm playing the waiting game. I have a plan and all things being
equal I can change the K4 for a K6 and not be too much out of pocket.
V.Important on a bike that is way less than a year old :)

    Simple see.

I eased off on the heavy braking for my last session at Silverstone,
almost to the point of only using engine braking. I'll readily admit
though that the reason for this was that my poxy brakes had faded to
next to **** all and the lever was coming back to the bars.

Having only done race schools, rather than track days I dunno which
    group I'd go in.

What would you suggest Champ, having seen me ride? I think inter.

I was offered a brand new K4Z this week, discounted down to 6,000 quid
OTR now, with a few extras like a Viper carbon can and d/bubble screen
thrown in. I am getting even more twitchy now.

I felt comfy in inters. I know I would have been frustrated in the
novice group, they really were that slow. The fast boys were a fair bit
faster, no doubt about that. I would have thought inters would suit you,
I've seen you ride as well.

I'm sure you would, but it's only really suitable for riders with a
    small penis, sorry.

True but there isn't much comparison all the same. I think it was Monz's
    I tried.
Of course AP and PFM make lovely radial callipers.

Sounds reasonable. You're certainly quicker than me, but not by a
horrendous amount like Champ or Daz.

Inters it is then, when I finally get enough free time this year to do
    one.

    In message <43e7d347$0$6999$>,
I've done both a race school (19..erm..94ish) at Mallory on a CBR600 and
one inter session on a track day on Daz' Gixxer 1000

Of the two, the track day was more of an experience, but the race school
was by far the more enjoyable.

Being on Daz' Gixxer was like being strapped to an Exocet, and I was
terrified of binning it as I couldn't afford to buy it if I did (well, I
could but that's not entirely the point; who wants to spend their
savings on a bent motorcycle?). I would not have missed it for the world
    though.

On the race school, the speed between corners wasn't so great allowing
more time to think about what I was doing, and if I trashed the CBR,
    leathers and lid, I walked away (hopefully) a mere £150 out of pocket;
the price I'd already paid for the day.

In addition, the way in which the race school was run allowed time to
build up confidence before mixing it a little; on the track day I was
being duffed up on the corners from the very first one which didn't
    inspire confidence.

Despite it probably doing me some good, I've not put my hand up for
    Lozzo's track day. Perhaps it's because I've a pikey, perhaps it's
because I'm risk averse (perhaps it's because I'm a risk averse pikey).
Perhaps if my insurance covered track days it might be different...
