UKRM Trackday?

Having done one at Donington last year, and forking out a small amount
on a spare set of pre-disastered bodywork for the Gixer I want to do
some more, but what does everyone think to getting a proper crowd
together and doing at least one trackday as a group some time this
    summer?

I figure that if a date/venue/organiser is sorted early enough in the
year then we should be able to get a decent amount of bikes and riders
of all abilities there. It's a good excuse for a day out and some of
you, even those less experienced, could pop your track cherries at the
    same time.

    Opinions please.

There's no money to be taken. It's like all trackdays, you pay up front
directly to the organisers. I will quite happily research what dates and
venues are available and post suitable ones here for everyone's
approval, but that's as much as I can do. From then on it's a matter of
the attendees phoning up the organisers and booking themselves in.

Unless ... I can negotiate a preferential rate, but before I even think
about asking I'd need some firm commitment from those who are serious
    about going.

Sounds interesting. Certain mutual contacts could prove extremely
    advantageous, too.

OK, now see, I've got this really horrible image in my mind now.

Include me out, BTW, I have no suitable machine, attire, or ability.

You have the GTS and you can ride a bike. People take all manner of
bikes on the track. I'm sure there's some 2 piece leathers to fit you
out there that someone can lend you. Having great ability doesn't come
into it, you ride with people of similar experience and ability in the
novice group if you're not confident or quick enough to get a real shift
on. Either way, you'll have fun.

Possibly. I'm really not convinced it's "me", TBH.

That makes three of us. So, we've equalled the Donington turn out
already, next step is to arrange a date and venue.

    Go on then.

You don't need to block book too many places to get a discount. A
mate got a decent discount for booking eight people in one go last
    year.

Bollocks. I've never been on a track, either.

BTW, I thought I should point out that 80%-90% of my riding is done in
London so not only have I never been on a track, I've also got the
disadvantage of not going round corners fast very often.

Also, since I've been doing this driving job, I've been used to changing
gear at 1,500-2,000 revs and last time I got on my R1, 6,000 revs was
fucking scary, let me tell ya.

Do it, oh rounded one. I promise I won't laugh.

    Much.
