  1. Seems to be turning into a one-man-band, especially since I installed
a new graphics card a month back -- my Athlon64X2 4200+ is now outperforming
both my Core2Quad 2.4 GHz machines. Don't you guys have a cold garret (or
workshop) to heat up with CPU cycles?

I've finally got round to chucking 3 pc's at it - 1 of which will be on
almost all the time. Shame you can't run it on domain controllers - got
two of them sitting idle half the time.

For warmth, a garret really needs a nice toasty kilowatt 2 metre linear
amplifier - the blowers through the valves give a nice breeze, too.

  5. I've been steadily creeping up the chart for the last few years. It's
making my Dell laptop run extremely hot though.

I've only got two puters, guv. One shite old server and one laptop. If
my server ever gets replaced, I'll go for an 8 core minimum spec, OK?

BTW, I saw that some LHC work units were being processed by BOINC the
other week. I though that it was broken!

Took it off ages ago and forgot to put it back on ... ;)

Mind, the computer's that old now (Athlon 1.4 .. bought when it was the
dogs danglies) it's slower than a slow thing on a particularly slow
day. I really could do with upgrading it, but I use my laptop mostly
now, and don't fancy leaving that running all the time .. ;)

Work machine runs at full whack when I'm not here. Hey, in 6th, that's
    not bad.

You've got 12 machines running Ivan? You must have one hell of a power
    bill.

  12. Not all are at home... I think I'm running at about £1/day at
home -- which is why I get annoyed when they send emails asking for cash
donations! OTOH, my gas bill has dropped lately... (I should install
a ducted fan to move hot air in the attic down to the ground floor; it
gets fairly warm in the Rechenzentrum (front bedroom...) while the
    kitchen is still chilly.)

Mate did this with, you guessed it, a4" computer fan and some skip
found ducting .. His kitchen has no radiators or heating other than
appliances and yet is now pretty much as warm as anywhere else in his
    house.

Keep meaning to do it myself too .. but no tuits round here .. ;)

Mind, I'd also like a sun tube [1] in my hallway, but that's structural
so needs even biger tuits .. and agreement from the council !!

Dual Core Intel Atom, 2gb DDRII Memory, 500GB Laptop Drive, more connectors
than you can shake a stick at, Vista Enterprise, Nvidia GeForce 9400M,
quieter than a mouse and the same size as a cigar box.
Hooked up to my Samsung 32" tv via HDMI and has no problems playing 1080p HD
    content & even COD4.

  18. Bleddy hell, this Athlon64X2 box crunches 1200-credit astropulse
WUs in 48 hours; you need to get the optimised client from Lunatics. It's
now up to 4000/day and rising with the GeForce 8800 GPU, compared to 800
before (astropulse only runs on the cpu tho').

Bloody hell you've scanned the universe !

Project has no jobs available !

I've had to move one of the PCs I was benchmarking onto rosetta@home.

I quite like the disclaimer on the rosetta site "your PC may overheat
when running Rosetta". The client seems to be more demanding than seti.
