"Interesting" only on your speedo. Either mine is pretty accurate or
    yours is *waay* out.

Mosel/Eiffel Mountains would be nice. Trier is a pleasant city with plenty
to do if it pisses down. Family run hotel I've used in the past would be
too small, glorified B&B really. 300 miles from Calais though.

  7. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique,
I, for one, should be most disappointed if it were to be anything other
    than a "French Run".

I will, and I'd sooner do it there than in Switzerland, but I'd restrict
my journey to autobahns where possible as a means of getting across the
country to somewhere further east (where they probably still report you
to plod but you can bribe your way out of trouble at a more reasonable
    rate)

Feck off. I had to spend time with my family, is that not punishment
    enough ?

As WUN said, it's got to be a "French" run. I'll check out some interesting
places if TOG hands over the reins to Colin.

Quite right too; the words 'French' & 'run' do go awfully well together.

I'm sure it'd be fine, but probably best to shoot everyone you overtake
just to be on the safe side.

Super. And we've already had requests to return to Caudebec, Bayeaux
    and Chepy!

  19. I've considered Belgium and Holland in the past, the difficulty being
the distance from home in the time available. Plus the factor that,
while 200 miles in the rain is a PITA, 400 miles is worse.

As far as I'm concerned they're all the same once they've got you
nailed and all you can do is pay the fine then get out of the country.
