Starbucks do chai latte though - which is the nearest thing to boba tea I've
found in London - so that makes them OK in my book.

there was a list of about 10 "things to do" and "things not to do".

With the exception of "boasting of sexual exploits and enquiring about
sexual preferences" I'm "guilty" of all the points on the latter list.

heh. What actually is chai latte, then? Some sort of frothy milky tea?
Sounds ghastly (I usually drink tea black with sugar).

Frothy milky black tea with honey and spices. It's worth a try actually -
it's got so much other stuff in it it isn't really tea any more, IYSWIM

    That sounds vile.

Strong tea, the slightest splash of milk, and 2 sugars. That's a proper
    drink.

Or strong black coffee, freshly ground aribica being my preference.

As for frothy tea... I don't want a cup of feng shui, FFS.

Why don't we meet at the Garrick Arms on Charing X road and see who turns
up. It's easy to find, not normally packed and within walking distance of
anywhere else. I will turn up.

no, it sounds OK. I forgot to take Kenyon up on how it can both be
    "Milky" and "black", mind you.
well, yes, that's OK too. Though I'm down to 1 sugar these days.

Does history actually record a situation like this where the backup *was*

Near Soho, Chinatown, etc. It's about 30 seconds walk from Leciester Sq
    tube.

    actually, I know it.

It's a fucking hole - I assume you were joking?

review quote: "Possibly the most cynical, tourist-seducing example of
pub kitsch in central London. Attempts authenticity as a trad. pub but
    fails horribly, of course."

    Actually, that sounds so *you*.

I've been the happy recipient of restored data, yes. This is the 3rd time
its happened in my career. Amusingly, for the head that will roll, it's the
3rd time it's happened here as well.

It's just a pub to meet at. They serve Bombay Gin, you can get a seat,
there's plenty of room (Dodger said he was turning up remember). We can go
    be pretentious afterwards.
    No *you*

well, we're not talking about the same Garrick Arms on Charing Cross
Road that I know - it's right down the bottom around the corner from
    The Chandos.

    Oh, OK then.

And ignore my other post about it not being the same pub it is - I had
my mental map of Soho upside down.

I dislike the taste of all but a splash of milk. To me it's a vile
fluid best left for baby cattle.
That's not true. I've a fair helping of both. I'm not against a spicy
tea, even some of those herbal concoctions.. I'm just drawing the line
at frothy milk, it's just wrong.
