SHORT VERSION - Whether you like it or not there IS going to be a UKRM
Calendar in 2005 and I'm doing it. So there. (Jump to sig)

LONG VERSION - After some encouraging noises at the BOSM (admittedly just
from TallBloke and me) I've decided to have another stab at producing a UKRM
calendar - this time for 2005....

"You said that last year Sorby! Why didn't it happen?"
Working away from home, illness in the family and the birth of my 2nd son
all conspired to leave me with little time or energy to pursue the idea.

"This comes up every year so why hasn't it happened before?"
Probably because it requires a lot of time & effort, some up-front expense,
the risk that not enough calendars will be sold to cover the costs and
nobody can agree on what shape the calendar should take, who or what should
    be in it, etc etc

"Why will it be different this time?"
Because : I'm working from home; photography is my main source of income now
and I've got the gear, resources and contacts; I'm getting a lot better at
it; I've got the time; It won't do my portfolio any harm; I've still got the
folder from last year brim-full of ideas & printing quotes; And hey, I'm
    keen!

"How are we going to do it?"
Well, I maintain that it'll never get done by committee so I'd like to
propose that I drive it and pick on willing volunteers as and when I need
their skills, assistance, time, shimmering naked bodies etc.

"What's the calendar going to be like?"
    It'll most likely be a high quality wiro-bound A3 item with a 250gsm front
    page & 12 x 150gsm leaves (possibly a backboard too).
The final printing method (digital or litho) will depend on volume of
orders. The photos contained within will amaze, inspire and astound. There
will definitely be bikes, stunts, nudity and stuffed badgers.
Whilst it will definitely have a strong UKRM bias it won't look out of place
    on any biker's shed/garage/bedroom/office wall.

    "When will it be ready?"
I would expect the calendars to be delivered by the end of November, 2004,
    at the latest.

"How much will each calendar cost?"
The price will be about £10.00 (+ P&P) but this will depend on the print
quality we go with, run size etc.
The bigger the run size the cheaper the units and this saving will be passed
    on to you.
I'm aiming to keep the price low whilst still achieving some profits for our
    worthy causes...

    "Where will the profits go?"
When ordering you'll be able to specify where the profits from your purchase
are to go. Suggested 'charities' include NABD[1] and Team UKRM [2].

"What's in it for you Sorby?"
Nothing. Obviously I'll need to recoup the artwork & printing costs but I
WON'T be claiming for my time, travelling, petrol, phonecalls etc. Detailed
accounts of costs & income generated will be available to any and all
    interested parties.

    "How can I help?"
If you have something to offer - whether it be your time, photographic
skills[3], ideas, good-quality photos from past UKRM events, the willingness
& ability to do something fairly special on or near a bike in front of a
camera - then please let me know. You can do this by email the address in my
sig. If you were one of the many people who registered an interest last year
    please do so again

    "What next?"
I'll follow up any emails registering interest. Over the course of the
Summer I'll arrange photo sessions (with me and/or other willing
photographers) to shoot prescribed shots I've already got planned +
miscellaneous & spontaneous other shots you may suggest. Periodically I'll
    have a brain-wave and ask for contributions (e.g. dates/events to pre-print
    on the calendar).
Towards the end of Summer the artwork will be done and submitted for
printing by the end of September 2004 when I will also be asking you to
place (and pay for) your orders.

By all means feel free to slag the idea off or turn this thread into a
discussion about belly-button fluff, guitars, Monty Python etc but please
make sure you send all the good stuff (relating to the calendar etc) to the
address in my sig. Any ideas posted to the ng will be noted but I won't be
replying or commenting on them via the ng as I'd rather there was an air of
secrecy about the actual calendar content. Hopefully this will reduce the
chances of people pre-judging the calendar and then not ordering one.

[1] National Association for Bikers with a Disability
[2] You only have to attend one of the KRC Endurance races to see how many
UKRMers get enjoyment out of it!!
[3] Photographers : your travel, film, developing, printing & scanning costs
will have to be met by yourselves. Sorry - but it's the same for me.

You've got to remember what he does for a living, that shot was faked in
his front room. I've heard he could even make Spete look quick with a
bit of work in a paint program, but I think that's pushing even Porl's
    skills and abilities.

You can't fake blood on the track mate. Not even with computers! I literally
wore through my slider and now have a metal leg.

Think about it, how many UKRMers would you want to see naked?

He might even let you play with the 'Speak-and-Spell' gaffa-taped to his
    chest.
He's a mutha-fuckin' robot now - and ten fags is his quest.

Cool! Do you reckon he's ready for that shite C4 TV thingy, y'know, the
"Scrapheap-Challenge-but-for-super-heroes" effort, er, <Googles> "Zero to
    Hero"?

    I'd watch that.

Maybe if BRC could do her sliding back wheel thing while naked, that
    would free up another month.
