Salad Dodger bored us all completely to death with wittery prose along
    the lines of:
    Birmingham, England.

  7. Which is probably based on real events. Hence the continuing
archeological search for various battle sites associated with Arthur
    (Badon Hill and the like)
In the film maybe not - but in the real world if Arthur existed it
would have been after the Romans left for good and before the Saxons
    took over.
    1) The concept of knights didn't come into existance till later (feudal
    era).
    2) The Roman cavalry auxiliaries were mostly Gothic, German or Celtic.
    3) The Romans had already left Britain and any auxiliaries they did
have would have been defending Rome with the rest of the legions. Not
    swanning around in Britain.
And where did they place it?
Because the parts that we do know about (from other sources) portray
    people quite different..
Firstly - much archological work has been done on the subject. It might
be worth reading some of it. Secondly - the Mabinogion has *nothing* to
do with Arthur.. Thirdly most historians agree that Arthur *is* based
on a real figure - a Romano-Celtic warlord called Riothamus (in the 5th
century AD). The story of his deeds has passed through multiple sources
(many before Morte D'Arthur) until it became the legend as we know it
today (from that same Morte D'Arthur).
The original Arthur legends are all based in the South. All the major
battles identified during that era where the British defeat the Saxons
are in the south.. And all the original sources were in Welsh.

Ahh, that's where you're going wrong. Reading the wrong translation.
If you go back to the original greek you'll see that...
is not strictly the correct form. It shold actually be read as "King
Arthur was completely absent from this story".
