The best film I've seen lately, merkin or not. 3 Yank soldiers return
from Iraq, take a car across the country and face challenges along the
way, not all internal. Tim Robbins is leaving the army, Michael Pena
and Rachel McAdams are on leave after getting shot. Creative script,
good realistic dialog, and great cinematography.

But I have a question. At one point Pena's character says:
"What you really want after a fight is whisky 'cause it mellows you
    out.
If you want to get mean you drink gin.
Vodka if you want to zone out and you save tequila for when you want
    to get crazy."

Now, I don't drink much hard stuff, so I'm curious. Is any of that
true? Oh, and did I mention McAdams is hot, as usual?

This bit is true in my experience, mind you, most of the people I know
who drink gin are mean miserable fuckers when they're sober.

But you're right - you don't know me. AFAIAA.

Anyway, mostly I prefer vodka, although gin is acceptable.

Weirdo. Vodka is just pointless. It hasn't got any taste for a start.

    A) You're wrong. Those of us who haven't ruined our taste buds
drinking whisky and, what's that stuff you like? Bekarovka or summat?
    Disgusting muck.
    B) I was talking about in a Martini.
    C) Go **** yourself.

Ah, multiple choice. I choose B)

I agree, much better than Gin in a Martini.

    ;)

  9. Lots of people say that, but I can taste and smell it, especially on the
    breath of others.

I think we should just all have this in our .sigs - it would save a
    lot of time and effort.

"Mad Men" isn't just full of cliches - everyone I know in PR or
Advertising drinks martinis now and again.

  12. Nor me.

Indeed. A good cold, dirty vodka martini, sometimes with a splash of
hot, a couple of blue cheese olives, is wonderful on a warm evening.
Shit Vodka might not have any taste to you, but I can definitely tell
the difference between taste of higher end vodkas - and not the stuff
    with fancy flavours.

On further consideration, the gin drinking mean miserable fuckers I know
are all female divorcees in their 50's.
Anyway, you're exempt because I've seen you on a TT dvd assisting a
    fellow racer.

  15. Buy bigger olives and use an olive stuffing tool.

Well I do think that most people would have worked it out, but I've
never heard of, let alone, eaten, a blue cheese-stuffed olive. Common
where you come from, are they?

  19. Well, now you've got me thinking. The last time I had need to buy them
I was still in the US and yes, I was picking them up (pre-stuffed, in
    jars) from the normal supermarkets.

I never could find the blue cheese and bacon stuffed ones though.

Bloody hell, i'd forgotten such a culinary implement existed. I may
have seen one in France a few years ago.

    I shall invest ..
