"The Third Reich in Power" by Richard Evans.
Part two of a trilogy, it covers the years between 1933-39 and is a
tremendous read, describing just how much and far Nazi instruments
infiltrated normal German daily life often to the minutest detail.
I certainly learned a thing or two from reading this.
Highly recommended.

There does seem to be an unhealthy interest in events of 70+ years ago
amongst some.

 

and unhealthy interest in the 5+ years ago fashion of "funny"

I'm sure there are several million people thankful for the way the UK
has behaved over the last 70 years which is more than can be said for
Israel or France.

 

You obviously misunderstood. When was the last time Israel did
anything to aid another country? They just don't do it and the biggest
reason is nobody actually wants to count Israel as an ally.

France? Hmmm, I can think of a lot of people who detest France for
carrying on testing nuclear weapons in other peoples back yards or how
about Vietnam for another case of starting something then fucking off
and leaving the locals to suffer for it?

Or Kuwait? I'll bet they were devastated by the UK meddling in their
affairs.

You're badly mistaken if you think the UK has a worse record for
pissing off other countries than France or Israel. Start by looking at
how many countries hate the pair of them in North Africa.
