**** that, we've been boosting the sales at the Dent brewery this
afternoon so I've got a decent supply of real ales to drink over xmas.

Initial sampling suggests the porter will be the first to run out.

My all time favourite pub, I think. One day I even hope to get inside :)

<checks again specifically by 'beer' name>
Found it. Beermad.org have it as 'dead', but TBF the entry was last
updated in 2007. "Occasionally available on draught". Wonder if they
    have resurrected it.
It is, and I was wandering the aisles of ours (on the site of the old
Sunbeam works) this morning with a list for SWMBO. Three types of
Italian cheese were on it so I'm not sure what is going to materialise
from the kitchen later (except that I'm pretty certain it won't be
pizza). Didn't visit the booze section at all - how remiss of me.

Of course I forgot to mention good old Bathams, who do an excellent if
not particularly dark Christmas ale = XXX, which, being available in
bottles might even make an appearance down your way.

    They sponsor 'ower kid':

    Oh absolutely.
    Each to their own innit.

    SWMBO loves it.

I've just got back from Sainsburys and the Magic Stick 250 quid poorer.
That should see me through til boxing day.

They'd sold out of the cheap port too. The swines.

    @news.eternal-september.org:

I hope that's a regional thing as I've put some on a grocery order to be
    delivered next week.

Shepherd Neame do a nice porter - only sold as the Asda branded Whitechapel
Porter. Best thing is that its only a quid per 500ml bottle. 5% ABV

I was hoping to score another dozen bottles. But they had none. So I
bought some Taste the Difference stuff just in case I run out of the
cheap stuff. And some absinthe [1]. And some vodka [2]. And some
advocaat [1] [3]. And some bourbon. And that all went in the car along
with the three cases of beer [4] from the Magic Stick beforehand.

Which, all in all, should pretty much see me through to boxing day.

[1] No, I've no idea why either.
    [2] Clad in a faux-leather studded zip-up jacket. [1]
[3] To go with the two bottles already on the shelf [1]
[4] 12 Paulaner, 12 Ruddles County and 12 assorted bottles of Sharpes.

    schluuurp, etc.

    and it turned up today

    rather pleasant, isn't it?

I must remember not to consume the rest of the bottle in the next couple of
hours or the plumber might find it difficult to gain entry at 9am
