Hi, Most bikes I see on the road today have smaller number plates
than mine, and they look great. They all seem to be about the same -
not as tiny as showplates but still smaller than mine - and I want to
know if there is a common size for these smaller plates, and what the
    dimensions were?

L'Oreal For Men, because I'm worth it and Veet Sensitive for my under

"All number plates made after 31.8.2001 must display the mandatory typeface.
Number plates made prior to this date must be substantially the same."

Since the OP is discussing having some (new) plates made up, then sentence
#1 applies. The word "substantially" only applies to plates made prior to
1.9.2001, which are not under discussion.

I don't understand your question. The document describes the size of
letters and numbers and the spacing between and around them. A smaller than
standard plate may not have enough room on it to accommodate all the
letters, numbers and spaces, so I suggested the OP read it before spending
any money on a plate which might be illegal. Assuming he gives a rat's ar$e
in the first place, of course.

Wtf does give a rat's arse about the law regarding number plates,
certainly not any copper I know unless it's stupidly small. I have an
undersize and illegal plate on my bike because with the tail tidy I
have the stock plate obscures the indicators.

I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to that one.

TBH I don't really care whether people use undersize plates - I think we
should be able to and I think the law in this respect is a bit daft. I would
if I could, but I'm fatally prone to Lex Sodomiticus and I just know I'd get
stopped within 100 yards of my house, first time out. I'd hate to see
someone here get fined because he was unaware of the law, which is why I
    responded the way I did.

I think Michael Jackson probably is what they say he is.

It's nice, except for the pipes. I assume "17,000" refers to Euros. Wish I
    had that much to spare.

I speak Italian fairly well, and French and Spanish passably. Latin not so
    well.

Not completely full, I suspect, but they do appear to be accumulating there,
    or maybe breeding abnormally quickly.

I think it's a question of degree. Small plates per se are all very
well, but if they can't be read at a reasonable distance then sooner
or later some twat that should be nicked won't be.
