UGC cinemas

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Justine Rogers, Feb 1, 2004.

  1. Anyone ever had their lid taken away by security at a UGC? Apparently
it's part of the health and safety policy and has been for years. It's
a new one on me though, been going to the UGC since before it was a UGC
and last night was the first time it happened.

Kicked up a fuss with the manager after the film to no avail, but did
come away with a cunning plan if they ever ask for it again.

No, and when I go to the cinema, I usually go by bike.
    Which is?

Has never happened to me. Last few times I've been to the flicks I've
always been on a bike. Lid is handy to have with you to carry your popcorn
    up to the balcony anyway.
Leave it on and claim you have a disability causing you to have a large
shiny head with a window at the front.

  4. Dead cunning. Will explain if I ever get a chance to use it.

You're going to claim you're Darth Vader and will die if your helmet is
    removed?

You're going to claim that you're the manager's father?

No. When I last went to the cinema by bike I didn't get my helmet taken
off me, but that would've been over a year ago.

I'll let you know when I go to watch Torque. I always go to UGC cinemas
    - a film doesn't seem the same without the Pearl & Dean music to kick it
    off, and they're usually cheapest.

    Don't. Just don't.

Biker Boyz was at least plausible. Torque makes it look like a
    computer game.

****, even the trailer was a joke. SWMBO was wondering why I was creased
up on the floor, pissing myself laughing.

I'd din't know where to begin frankly.

So do I since I bought me one of those "unlimited" cards they do. £10
a month and as many films / visits as you can stomach. Saw Freaky
Friday today and surprised myself by loving it.

Claim they have damaged after forceably taking it off you and demand £500
    for a new one

Or put it in a helmet bag and thank them for saving you the bother of
    holding it in the cinema.

No, but I have in Sainsbury's.
Perhaps they thought you may not need it after the film?
    Take a spare lid? ...

Used to go to UGC on that subscription deal. Problem was, we went too
    infrequently.

Now we like easyCinema in MK. Muchos cheaper, as long as don't mind
waiting a bit before seeing your chosen film...
