As I see from further down the thread, you have contacted Sterling - I
    couldn't fault them.

It was 199 all in for a pair of Bridgetsone BT010s - and this was them
coming out to do the job at my place (about 15 miles away)

Darran Lindsay's winning 600 at the Cookstown races was wearing something
new, BT002, which appeared to be outrageously sticky and devoid of tread.

Name is not Jeremy, but a place near mine did D208's for 180. Called Monday,
go in Tuesday; ride in ride out. IIRC the place was called TST tyres.

Wrong name: arguable, would you like to be called Jeremy?
Wrong tyres: This was an example, I'm sure they can do your tyres as well
Wrong end of the country: all your fault.
Forks are fucked as well, plus I'll have to wait for the assessor first....I
think I'll trade it in for a Mille...

  9. I can think of worse, but see your point.
    Well obviously.
What's it worth at book value? I'd imagine with fucked forks, it's going
to be close to a write off :(

Presumeably you're keeping all receipts for other transport etc etc just
in case you're jammy enough to win your claim?
    Heh.

I'd be wary of TST. They're not bad, and I used them for a good few
years, but one of the fellows there has stopped me recommending them.
A number of times I've spoken to Tony[1] and agreed a price, only to
have this other bloke tell me that no, fitting wasn't included. On
getting Tony to confirm, it is. This isn't that bad, but it's extra
    hassle I don't want.

Bloke2 did it (for TST) when I tried to get my last set of 010s from
them, round about March last year. Rang up Monday - "They'll be in
tomorrow". Rang up Tuesday "They've not come in - it'll be tomorrow".
Rang wednesday "There's none in the country, we've had them on back
order for ages and we're not expecting them before July if ever.
No-one else will be able to get them either. You might like to try the
replacement sports touring 012, or a Michelin?"

The next shop I rang up had them in stock, and would fit them as soon
as I got the wheels round. The whole episode left a bit of a bad taste.

[1] as far as I know, the owner and all-round nice chap

They may have been twisted, when I let go of the handlebars, the bike veers
to the right and when I brake hard to the left.
Don't think you're far off, depends on what the parts cost, but headlight
for instance, second hand, is already 120 pounds, then all the plastics,
    bracket and now the forks....
Not much costs as I'm being picked up by a colleague, housbound for the
    rest, can't walk very far......
No heh. I'm considering it. They're reasonably cheap, not sure about how
comfy they are. Have to see when I can get a test-ride, but after the balls
    have become less blue :)

My man in Oxford might be near (ish) and good value, I can't recall the
exact price he charged me for a pair of BT45's last year but it didn't make
    me gulp.

Its all down to feel. My GSXR750Y had Pilot sports on which I fucking
*hated* for lack of feedbackand was slagging off at Donington once when a
bloke I didn't know pointed out to me that if they *were* as shit as I said
then why had I managed to get them to the edge in a nice non-bobbled
    pattern.

Suffice to say, once I swapped to 207RRs, I couldn't go as fast but I *felt*
    much more secure...

Its all down to personal preference. I hear that the Pilot Powers have the
same grip as the old sports but the feel of Dunlops. If that's true then
    I'll buy 'em every time.

If it ain't then I'll crap myself on them, whilst still getting more lean
than I do now on my 010s cos I can't feel what they're doing and go back to
    Bridgestones or Dunlops...
