Got a new tyre fitted last week (i provided the tyre and a loose wheel) and was presented back with the old tyre as the shop reckons it costs them loads to dispose of them. I was advised that I should "Chuck it in a ditch". Being slightly more public spirited I took it down the tip, only to be told "we can't take tyres anymore". I asked where I could take it: "Dunno, not here". So where can i dispose of it[1]? Plan B is to cut it in half and take it back down the tip in a couple of bin bags but I can see a lot of tyres ending up in ditches if this is the way it's going to be.
