Rear wheel on a chop project, got he old rubber off - no damage. New one
on - no damage. But its proving a larf to get the bead to seat to inflate
    the tyre.

Took it to two tyre fitters with no joy so far - using their standard
    inflation kit.

Any ideas on how to sort my rubber out.....

  2. Time and persistance.
Also several people pushing in the middle of the trad all the way
around the tyre. A dead blow hammer or rubber mallet to beat it with
    helps, sometimes.
I used to get Jeep tyres refusing to seat the beads when the tyres had
been stored incorrectly, especially at 5.20 on a Friday evening.

Chuck some cigarette lighter fluid in, set alight, BANG, bead is seated.

    Don't thank me just yet...

That's what the Icelanders do when they put tyres back on the beads out
on the snow-fields. It's not uncommon for tyres to become unseated out
    there.

  5. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
You need to have the bead rubber tacky - not slippy, just a bit tacky.
Ordinary soap is good for this; get a lather up and wipe the bead, then
dry it off a bit with your hand.

You know those heavy cargo straps, the ones with a ratchet? Wrap one
round the tread and tighten it up until the bead just seats - then wazz
in a mighty blast of air, having removed the valve core first.

    Repeat until successful.

BANG! As the bead seats - and ffs keep your fingertips away from it.

Wang up the pressure to about 80psi for a few seconds, then release.

    Sorted.
