Tyre Life Expectancy

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by jackhackettuk, Oct 3, 2008.

  1. How long would you expect a set of Dunlop D207 Sportmaxes to stay
    fresh in terms of stickiness?

I only ask given I've had a couple of unexpetced 'arse out moments' on
the R6 over the last couple of days, and I'm aware the tyres on it are
the originals it came with, ergo, they're over six years old.

Just wondering whether or not to get some fresh rubber before I try to
fathom out how to soften the suspension slightly so it's not quite so
jumpy mid corner if it hits a bump etc.

    TIA

I wouldn't have fitted them 6 years ago as new tyres, they're
    absolutely shite beyond belief.

Get a set of Diablos or Metzelers on it soonest before they throw you
    into a ditch

They're pretty good on my bandit...

    But only last around 2k.

    D207 != D207RR.

  5. I take it Conti Road Attacks would be no good on this - they were
    exceptionally good on the VFR.

I'd buy Sport Attacks for an R6 that's going to be used as the makers
    intended.

  7. The Conti Road Attacks I had on the VFR and the CBR before it were
    pretty good IMHO.

Was wondering whether to give Sport Attacks a go.
