    Hello all,

I have a 2001 Bandit 1200S and have previously used either a pair of 020's
or 010 front/020 rear. Last set lasted 5k but I have got through this set in
3k - this is less than 3 months use and it's getting a tad expensive
(especially as the chain & sprockets are nearing the end oftheir life and my
insurance runs out in two weeks!).

I have loved the performance of the Bridgestones.........but that mileage.

I was thinking of some Azorro's (AV 45/46 ST). Does anyone have any views on
these - especially if they ride a 1200 Bandit.

    Thanks in advance.

They work well on a ZRX1200R, which is a very similar bike - seem to
grip better and give more wear than BT020's

You'll find that quite a few of us have Azaros on their bikes - I've
got them on both the Bimota and the Pan. I think Lozzo has them on his
ZZR, a few other Panisti have them as well and AFAIR everybody says
that they're at least as good as the BT020s and last longer.

    I'd give them a shot.

    Thx,

Never run Avon's before - whats the difference between the Azorro and the
Azorro 2 - is it just newer? Is the 45/46 the way to go with a B12 and some
    mid/fast road work?

What is the wet grip like (this is the UK!) - the 010/020's were excellent
and I wouldn't like this to be lost.

    Cheers,

    Mark

The AV45/46 are Azaro 3s, the Azaro 2s I had on the ZZR11 lasted about
1500 miles, and they were shit. These are far better and grip better
than 020s yet give better mileage on my ZZR.

Post below the last posting please Mark.
I've used 010's on a Gixxer Thou on several streaming wet track days,
circulating with track bikes on the soft compound rennsports, they were
excellent, drifted in a predictable manner and didn't let go.

First things first - please have a look at the FAQ (link in my sig)
and check out the section about posting style. We post our replies at
the bottom of the messages here, not at the top as you did.

Anyway, regarding your question - the Azaros are 'sports' tyres,
whereas the Azaro II and ST are classified as Sports Touring
tyres. I'd say that for road use you're OK with the ST, even on a
    proper sports bike.
Wet grip on these is very, very good. The people I know who use Azaro
STs (Lozzo as mentioned, Simon Atkinson) and myself do a lot of miles
in just about all weathers. I change the rear tyre on my Pan for an ST
when I picked up a screw in the BT020 I had one when I bought it. If
anything, wet grip has improved. And that's with a BT020 front...

AFAIR Lozzo rates them higher than the BT020 in the wet, and he's a
far better and far more experienced rider than I am.

Got them on my '99 B12s, excellent tyres will definitely be buying them
again. Very good in the dry and predictable in the wet and have lasted for
5k (still going!!!) Previously would only buy Bridgestone but ran into the
Avon rep at the fitters who offered to swop the Azzaros for 020's if after 2
weeks I wasn't fully satisfied with them (at his expense)!!! Needless to say
    didn't go back!
