    Furry's muff. But from my reading of the Silmarillion, they'd have
    been much more concerned and could have put a stop to it.

    Plus, and this is the main point, Tom's reckoned to not be a safe
    keeper for the ring, as he'd forget about it after a while and
    probably lose it, which doesn't sound like the Valar to me. And he'd
    have been held in much more reverence by Gandalf, Elrond, Galadriel et
    al if he were.

    Mmmmm. I was busy watching that Jennifer Ehle. Kendall was prime in her
    time (though that seems to almost entirely stem from being in The Good
    Life) but I was about 7 when she did The Mistress.

    She's in her 60s by now, surely.

    Nah sod the book, unless they do one with film shots every other page
    (of Aragorn, natch, and Boromir - sad to say I do actually find Sean
    Bean vaguely attractive)...
