M&P delivered the correct bearings this morning!

ParcelForce delivered the braided brake lines tonight @ 20:45!

The bottom bearing race has resisted *all* efforts at removal. [1]

The new bearings are in, and there does not appear to be any play.

    Forks yet to be reinstalled.

[1] How much of an issue is this likely to be?
Would some kind of a puller work?

Inner or outer? If it's the inner, on the steering stem:

Angle grinder. I am serious. All you need do is nick
the race a bit to weaken it, then 'it it wiv a 'ammer[1].

Outer race in the headstock? Dremel tool with cutoff wheel,
    and same 2nd verse.

    [1] chisel optional but recommended.

Outer. The inner has already been Dremelled off.
I've been looking for an excuse to acquire a mains Dremel for some
time now. The rechargeable one is a bit limp.
I have a chisel shaped punch for that very purpose.

I've been having dremmel urges for some time now. Will the machine
mart one above be up to slicing a slab of marble?

I'd buy something a little more substantial for a job like that,
something like a 9 inch angle grinder

I've done marble before. Providing it isn't a headstone a little
angle grinder and a decent stone disc will do it. Five minutes and
half a disc to cut the slabs my speakers stand on.

    I don't think it'll fit, Dave.
(though I understand your wise words of caution)

It's the cup part, not the roller cage bit.

The one that gets hammered into the bottom of the headstock.

I shall spend my Wednesday evening Dremelling, I fancy.

Oh, and fitting my lovely new Goodridge hoses. :)

If it's transportable then take it down to one of those Halfords
superstore workshop places and ask them to press it out on the
    hydraulic press.

Couple of beer tokens pressed into his mitt will suffice.

I did the same when I needed some bearings pressed on the SO
    LandRover.

    Cheers,

    Paul.
