News is breaking on the new Brutale. 1090cc, 170hp & TSS (the variable
length intake system used on the mega expensive MV specials). All in a
    tiny naked bike. Mental.

Not quite, you won't need to tow a trailer to collect all the bits that
    fall off.

Ok I've googled now, & according to wiki that's a little used
unofficial abbreviation. If that's true, it's hardly the same as us
using UK, & not surprising that neither Champ nor I had heard of it.

FederalRepublicofGermany and GermanDemocraticRepublic are the direct english
    translations for BundesRepublicDeutschland and DeutscheDemokratischeRepublik
respectively. *G*ermany instead of *D*eutschl... you get the idea.

After unification the area of the former GDR/DDR became "the new federal
states" (as it was pretty much annexed by FRG/BRD), so the name for unified
    Germany remains FRG/BRD.

As a rule of thumb, if a country has the word Democratic in its name, it
probably isn't very. cf. North Korea.

German Wiki says it's an unofficial abbreviation too, so in the absence
of any reference to the contrary, I'll go with that. The official
    abbreviation appears to be Deutschland.
