Does anyone have a copy of the 'Twist of the Wrist' videos/DVD that I
    can borrow please?

I'm reading book two and it's interesting but the technical stuff is
    hard going.

    Thanks xx

The book gets stuck in the VCR and doesn't play very well.

It would seem theft is okay, so long as it's not bike theft.

  10. The acting's crap, the direction's flawed and the plot veers wildly.

Please note that it's wrong for companies to outsource to lower costs,
though. That's important enough to start a thread about.

Heh, the IS dept I whore for was outsourced today so that's my contract on
shaky ground. Still it could have been worse if it had gone to the other
front runner, I could have been trying to justify my job to Ginge....

Last week the BBC ran a rather interesting documentary on the
outsourcing of call centres to India, it was presented in an unbiased
manner. Even from my perspective of someone who doesn't like the
concept of moving jobs purely to make someone else richer it showed the
benefits, particularly to the community it has improved.

Then the Chief Executive from one India's largest call centre operations
had an opportunity to put his view forward. His words (I may be
slightly misquoting, the essence remains the same) were as follows:

"In India we are now able to lead the market with our call centres, we
will prove that there is nothing we are not incapable of."

    Fair amused me, that did.

    I'm even more confused, now.

What you're saying is, if I understand it correctly, that a management
consultant is unaware of the concept of copyright, and doesn't accept
the arguments that lead to outsourcing.

That can't be right, can it?

I thought someone said up there that you expressed yourself clearly.

    That's gibberish, surely?

If you've been outsourced go and read up on TUPE regulations, you have
to be retained in your present job (as a contractor for a minimum time
as well, IIRC), youshould also be allowed to apply for vacancies in the
company that have outsourced you in the same way as any of their staff.

Oh and you'd not have to justify your job to me, ever.. Only our HR
department get involved in that kind of thing, ever.
