Carl Rosner opens at 8am, and I'll be there about 0825 and a shiny new
Street Triple, in the One True Colour, will be mine.

    <Manic giggle>

Just in time for Spring, as well.

So, when was the last time you crashed?

Anybody want to start a sweepstake? I reckon... hmmm... 26th May.

Low-speed bounce off a chav in a car on the XT600E, last autumn. Erm,
damage was a cracked indicator lens. Does that count? Arse-ended a
Peugeot in winter on my Trophy a few years ago. No damage to me or the
car, but it did a grand's worth of plastic damage to the Triumph.
Hope not. That's immediately after I return from Chile (off again in
    mid-May).

No, not that kind of thing.

I mean a mostly self-induced interface with the scenery (e.g. armco,
telegraph pole, ditch, telegraph pole, hedge, telegraph pole, etc.), not
directly involving another vehicle, usually caused by over-confidence in
the abilities of yourself and your machine. Often closely preceded by
thoughts like "I Am A Wheelie GOD!", "I'm sure I can get past him on the
brakes here", or "It's like my own private race track!"

My fingers are burning at the moment, in an incoming-chillblains stylee.

    It's surprisingly nippy out there!

    Damn right. Just collected it...

    ....and...

Nearly binned the bastard. Turning left into the main road from Carl
Rosner's place, gave it the teensiest bit of throttle - no more than
3k revs - and cold new tyres, cold road, the bloody thing went
sideways. Eek. Arsehole went like that ---->*

I ought to add that, by my estimate, the total distance covered was 53
    feet :-/

Anyway, droning along at 5k revs max is a boring experience (it's
doing 60-62 at those revs) because the engine is *so* eager and you
can sense it wants to go.

Never had a multi-function display on a bike: lap timer, mpg meter,
max speed attained (that one could be fun - I wonder if it's
admissible in court?), and all the rest.

Everything's hard on it atm: harsh suspension, hard feel to the
brakes, etc, so I suppose every component needs running in. What
delights me (even at running-in speed) is the noise: pure music, and
how it got through noise regs eludes me.

I had a similar moment a couple of weeks after collecting the thou. Cold
tyres, a ham-fist and mind-bogglingly precise throttle response had the
back-end making a break to overtake the front.

Note to self: don't collect your first litrebike the day before heavy
    snow.

    Eeek, indeed.
    heh. No more, no less?
When I picked up the Sprint ST, I needed to go straight home, so ended
up on the M25 in lane one doing 60, with artics bearing down on me.[1]

    Not nice.
    I hope not!
<g> Nice sound then? I'm not sure I've been up close & personal to a
    675 triple but I love the 1050.

[1] I thought they were meant to be restricted to 56, but hey ho.
