I'm with Eddie. At 17, the lad isn't going to give a **** what some old
gimmer on a motorbike thinks about him. Sure he might care about his
premium, but that'll happen with or without your letter.

Au contraire, I think it's the only part of the letter that's worth
    sending.

The twats who gave my son (a ten year old at the time) a kicking made the
mistale of walking down our road about 2 months later. My lad saw them, so
    Plod's involvement was not needed.

It may serve to remind the felching cumblister that the consequences of his
actions post accident could've been MUCH worse. A dressing down by Plod and
a few years of having to declare the accident on insurance applications with
the associated increase in premiums will mean absolutely bugger all to him
(or Twattydad I would imagine), but the thought that the "injured" party
could find out his actual address and contact him (if only by letter this
time) may cause him a moment or two of concern.

Well it might if he had any fucking sense, which I doubt.

Yeah, right. Just like your missus has with you, yes?

I'll add my voice to this chorus. Sending the letter seems pretty
    pointless to me.

Or, say, just like you expect any woman to do with you?

The day any woman makes a concerted effort to talk sense into me, she's
    out the bloody door!

What makes you think he'll declare the accident? I doubt it.

Eh? You don't think his insco just having forked out 400 note to pay
for TOG's damages might be a bit of a hint to them?

His policy will require him to tell them of any changes anyway.

And when he changes to a new insurer next year to get a better
    premium?

  12. They will see it on the database and charge him anyway.

However, the process of writing it (without sending it), may provide
    some kind of catharsis.

I presumed, as others seem to be saying, that it wouldn't be that easy
to hide these days. And if he does he must know that he's doing so,
and is therefore committing a further offence each time he does.

But in any event, as I've said many times before, if you want really,
really cheap car insurance then all you need do is lie about
absolutely everything, and become, say, a 55y-o women with a
blemish-free driving record of 30 years, living in the most
crime-free, idyllic, rural backwater in the country, who uses the
small 1.2l hatchback once a week to drive to the local shops.

    Sheep, Lamb, etc.

Of course it will, but given the type of family he's from do you think
    he will?
