worth seeing I guess, if you like motorbike road racing, or even just
generally like motorsports documentaries. It was well directed and put
together, and was reasonably sensitive towards those killed (although
there was lots of crash footage, none of any crashes than involved
    fatalities).

To be critical, I thought the Jared Leto narration seemed a little out-
of-context; I imagine they need some clout to sell it to america,
given the almost complete lack of american's otherwise in it.

I'm also not at all sure it particularly benefited from being in 3D,
and in fact some of the 3D segments were fairly clearly post-prod CGI,
rather than actually having been shot with an actual 3D camera set-up.

Also, Guy Martin's a wanker (if you see the film, you'll know what I
    mean).

He was fucking great when he was paying to get me pissed in the bar at
Silverstone in 2007, and just because I was spannering for an 'awkward
    bastard' as he put it.

here, have a "presence" to insert between "american's" and
    "otherwise".

    I concur on both points.

The narration was completely incongruous, and barely used. They managed
to get everything else across just using clips from interviews, even
when laid over other video, so adding a random yank for what seemed like
a total of 30 seconds over the entire film was a bit pointless.

The 3D really irritated me at first - those specs aren't particularly
comfortable (especially if you're having to wear them as well as normal
specs) and there were too many shots during the first ten minutes that
had clearly been set up to show off the 3D - Guy Martin in a pit under a
truck with a rattle gun hanging in the foreground; Ian Hutchinson viewed
from above doing bench presses. They might as well electrify the seats
and give you a tingle every time someone crashes. It was the first time
I've been to see a 3D film at the cinema and it'll probably be the last.

That lot aside, I thought it was pretty good. It lost some tension
because I knew the outcome (victories, injuries, etc) but told the story
well and avoided having loads of barely-sentient gimmers rambling on
about how many friends they've made over the years.

Three and a half thumbs up.

The Guardian gave it a reasonably good review/score today.
....despite the fact that the reviewer knew litle about the IoM.

Peter Bradshaw doesn't seem to know much about anything outside arthouse
cinemas, so I usually ignore his reviews.

Five stars in the Independent though. And four each in the Mirror and
    Mail.
