For those who are thinking of celebrating the centenary of the mountain
circuit, Keef's birthday and even more significantly the 40th
anniversary of my first visit to the Island, you had best get your ferry
crossings booked if you want to take a bike.

It's already looking like it will have to be either a short visit or a
Wednesday of practice week until the Monday after race week stay.

Brinkmanship can often be successful because of cancellations, but you
presumably don't have to also factor in reserving digs.
I may telephone tomorrow to check. In any case, it is easier to be sure
of getting a booking for three bikes on the same crossings that way.

OK if you have a running reservation for accommodation every year - like
    the scout hut.

They should go back to first come, first served, queuing in the old
roofless sheds on Liverpool dock for hours and hours 'system'. That
    would sort you youngsters out.

Overnight Friday/Saturday out, overnight Friday/Saturday back.

It'll be a miserable journey to/from Liverpool but at least I've got a
reasonably comfy seat on the boat.

I've not looked into it, but isn't it a lot cheaper to take a transit
van if there are three bikes travelling together?

If crossings are shit at the moment it gives me plenty of time to
decide whether I want to go or not and then book once they release a
    load more next year.

I always enjoy it once I'm there but the actual crossing usually makes
    me wonder why I bother.

Same here. The return trip last time was the worst, Boxed in like
sardines and with no seats left stuck next to 2 pissed scousers
insistant on waving around the kippers they bought in Douglas.

If there's a hell out there it's loosely based on the Steam-Packet.

I'm really looking forward to three hours at Liverpool docks on the
Friday night. Almost as much as I'm looking forward to a five hour ride
home through the night a week later.
