Troy's OK

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Mordwid, Oct 21, 2003.

  1. I didn't think it was there when the race started (in the dry). I'd be
very surprised if the race would have started with that much crap
sitting on the track during track inspection.

    Cheers

  2. The gravel wasn't there at the start - the track marshalls sweep the track
between races. It is there from Max Biaggi - he came off on the opposite
side as Troy at the same time, managed to get the bike back on again.
That's why he went from 7th to last. All the media attention was on Troy's
big off so Max's oopsy was not really noticed.

Damn! Missed a chance to taunt Biaggi!

(Glad Bayliss is okay though ... geez, that looked bad.)

Speaking of hazards on the track, did anyone else notice the wallaby that
darted across the track at Siberia just as the 250's were finishing?

It zipped around in a panic and disappeared into the trees. A re-emergence
at the wrong time might have been nasty.

My mate Brendan had the opportunity when he bumped into Max in a cafe in
Cowes on friday, but all he did was get his autograph.

  5. Yeah, looked terrible didn't it? You always think the worst when you see
    them so limp.

The TV angles on Honda and MG have got progressively worse over the years.

Once upon a time the bikes were coming virtually straight for the camera
under brakes, and the camera could pan through the action ("even Gobert
wouldn't try to overtake on the outside through there. Oh, he just did!")
the follow the accelleration uphill again.

Now it has bugger-all impact and they use three camera angles to provide a
quarter of the racing. Not as bad as when they put the camera on the inside
of the corner, on rails. Perfect non-solution to a problem that
    non-existed.

I was discussing the same thing with a work colleague. Don;t know how many
times Troy has followed Melandri this year, but you'd think if you're not sure of
one;s riding style you wouldn't push the envelope by banking on things not
happening, (such as Marco closing the door). 10/10 for Troys effort though
as I thought he would really have given Vale a run for his money.

Valentino has admittedly a good head for the business. Little wonder the
    going rate of 17 mill.

To win 5 world championships you have to emulate someone who has already won 5
    world championships.

Well, maybe you don't _have to_, but it doesn't seem to

I remember one Japanese grand prix, a wet race from memory, circa 1993,
Doohan's winning margin in the order of 25-30 seconds.
