Several came up in a Brisbane South Side auction house recently , it
seems he may have a 'lation attending the auctions as the buyer of the
job lot was practically salivating over the buy .

Harley Sportster 883. About the best resale you'll get in a bike around
    the $12-$14k range.

Whether you actually want to ride one is a different matter :)

I hate to be seen to be trying to play one-upmanship with Theo's son or
anything but I went to the Vespa dealer the other day and rode home on a
    brand new 250cc. :)

  9. Right, at 2008 prices from $7215 to $8562 AUDollar for the 883 sporty range in the
    US,

You are saying from $12K to $14K, is that the price here?
allowing for the maximum shipping cost of $2500
the dealers here are making between $3K and $4K

I have been quoted from $900 to $1500 for complete shipping for a bike from the
states but the Department of Transport in Canberra, would not let me import a bike
because it was not made before 1988 and did not have the compliance plate for the
    Australian Design Rules,
given that there are only two items which are different and when I mentioned to the
fool at DTI, that I would import the bike without these items, then buy new ones off
the shelf here,he just said no and that was it.

aside from that, what happened to the 15 year rule?

Who is making all the money here, it cant be Govco, as there is no import duty on
bikes, only GST, which is crap because the tax has already been paid in the US.

Hmmm well it's approximately $12k to $14k... you'd have to check with
your dealer how much it's changed since last I looked.

As for the dealers and importers making money at that price...

    well duh! :)

Look on the bright side, by that time the Street Triple may have been
fitted with a decent rear shockie.

One of the company V-Motos died. Oil pump broke. The other is still going
strong. Well.. strong might be a bit ... strong a word. It's still moving.
One of the younger web designers is riding it to and fro his abode. It
spends it's days parked in the lobby.
